HISTORY OF MERCHISTON RESIDENCE

Blonde sandstone quarried locally from the old Burgh Muir epitomises the 19^th century architecture of Merchiston. The Victorian townhouses and mansions of Merchiston Avenue and Merchiston Place were constructed during the 1860s, and this private residence was built by architect George Anderson circa 1879-1888 and is a stunning example of the architecture in this historic city.
